9 - A Rocky Start, but Nevertheless a Good Monday

Ah, Monday, my favorite day of the week.

Yes, you read that correctly, Monday is literally my favorite day of the week. What is it makes me like Mondays so much? Is it because of the lineup of my professors I have for the day? (Miss Mina first, then our extremely-smart professor in College Algebra who is an engineer, or—my favorite professor of all—Dok Leng.) Is it the thought of seeing my blockmates and fellow APCians again? Surely, what is causing my Mondays in Asia Pacific College to a little better than my Mondays in high school?

Oh, there it is again, the two dreaded words: high school. Let me just get this out here for all of you to know: I HATED Mondays in high school. Monday was the equivalent of the guy in a surprise party who yells "Surprise!" and then proceeds to throw the birthday cake to the face of the birthday girl/boy. Monday was the old-looking guy in a shady-looking van asking little kids if they want to come in his van to enjoy "candies." Monday was the guy who snatches your belongings at the train station. Monday was the kid who looks at your lunch who goes up to you and eats everything. Worst of all, Monday was the guy who defecates in the public toilet and does not flush afterwards.

I hated Monday back then because it signified another painful and boring week; however, that was before. I do not know the full reason why, but I slowly started to love Mondays at Asia Pacific College, as it signified a day filled with something completely new. Maybe I might be dismissed early, or maybe not. Maybe there won't be traffic in Pasay. Maybe I will see "that person" again. Maybe I will learn something new this week. Maybe there might be an activity this week that I can participate in.

As I have mentioned in my poorly-constructed blog post on Saturday, I said that Monday will be "The dawn of a new tomorrow," and that was a very bold statement for me to make, considering that nothing new will happen on Monday, nor will anything significant happen on Monday. To my surprise, nothing significant did happen—although I hyperventilated from practicing way too much and not drinking enough water; also, wearing a buttoned-down polo with a necktie and slacks is definitely not the best clothing you could wearing while dancing.
Despite that, nothing much happened today. We did not have our GRAMCOM class today and we mostly rehearsed, for our College Algebra class, I found out that I was as dumb as a rock when it comes to basic algebra, and for IT Concepts, we had a quiz and we were sent home by—my favorite professor—Dok Leng.

Still, there was something about this day that made it so good. Maybe it was the convenience of not having traffic and easily finding a jeepney on my way home. Maybe it was the new episode of Last Week Tonight (my favorite show). As I have noticed, I started to love and appreciate the little, insignificant things day by day. This is just my first year at Asia Pacific College, so I have a lot of days (around 500+ days left) to enjoy.

I am happy that I am cherishing (or, at the very least, enjoying) every minute of my college life. As you all know, time that is spent cannot be brought back. If I wasted my time in high school not enjoying it, then that is my fault and I learned my lesson.

For now, I am going to leave you a video of my favorite show (which is currently on HBO but also gets posted to YouTube), Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Hopefully you all had a great Monday.
