14 - Clearing Up

Some of my blockmates are still having some problems about blogging and I am here to help clarify some confusion about the assignment Sir Dustin gave us.

First and foremost, THIS IS A BLOG POST. A POST. This is called A BLOG POST.

You are supposed to make blog posts. They are POSTS in a BLOG. They are like Facebook posts. This is a blog post, NOT A BLOG. A blog is a SITE. It is like a WEBSITE. My blockmates usually say, "Ilan gagawin na blog?" [How many blogs are we supposed to make?]. I usually respond with "Isa lang" [Only one] because we only need to make one blog anyway. You do not say "Ilan Facebook na nagawa mo? Nabasa mo ba yung Facebook ni Juan dela Cruz?" [How many Facebooks have you made? Have you read the Facebook of Juan dela Cruz?]. There is a difference between a blog and the posts in a blog.

Second, post titles. You should have a post title and the post title cannot and should not be the title of your blog. Here, I will give you an example:



I have seen some of my blockmates make the title of their blog the title of their first post and, quite frankly, the blog title should not be the title of the first post. It is redundant. It is superfluous. Your blog title should be something else, say for example Footsteps Around the World or The Wonderful World of Juan dela Cruz, or something like that.


Third, and this also concerns some of my blockmates, ADD A POST TITLE. Some of you might be wondering why some of your posts are showing up as Untitled in my Reading List. That is because you forgot to put the post title in the post box. You might argue that you added a post title, and that you have enlarged it using a bold tool in order for other people to see.

You literally cannot miss it, it is to the left of the Publish button.
Please, do not leave this blank.


For one, you cannot edit the post title with the bold tool (unless you are editing it in Template Designer). And two, Blogger still will not recognize the title IF it is in the body of the post.

The video above is my "goodbye song" for this blog. As with all good things, I believe that the "life of this blog" has come to an end. The time has finally come for me to start packing my bags and start blogging elsewhere. To tell you all the truth, when I made this blog, it was originally titled "Just One Yesterday" (named after Fall Out Boy's song) as you can see from this earlier screenshot of my Blogger Dashboard. The reason behind the name was that I was having trouble adjusting to my new college life, and that I missed my high school days. Because, actually, the central topic of this blog was supposed to be how high school is better than college. That was the case at first; however, I soon realized that college is actually far better than high school. I spent a few days coming up with a new title for this blog, and since it was around July (my "improve everything" phase), I decided to name this blog "A Better To

7 - Repeating the Same Mistakes

First of all, my first three weeks in college was  AWESOME ! They were great, they were filled with fun and exciting moments. Despite that, I noticed that I still have made some mistakes that I made in high school. Let me tell you a secret: When my first term was about to start, I went to my friend's house, Jose Capacia, to talk about the things I should and should not do in college. He was great for telling all those things and he really seemed like he already knew a lot about college. (We are both freshmen this year, but he will study in La Salle.) He also told me that I should not repeat the same mistakes I have made in high school—say, for example, not speaking up and not letting my voice be heard. I have a myriad of things I have done in high school that really killed the whole high school for me. I am not afraid to admit them and here they are: I was obsessed on trying to get a girlfriend, I focused on love more than my studies, I did not care for whatever happened

12 - Character

“Abilities can lead us to success, but character is what will keep us successful.” —My professor For those of you wondering why I started off this post with a quote, I actually have something to tell you about my character, my real character. Not my fake character, my real character. (Note: I do not think my professor remembers that she/he made that quote, how sad. Still, it is a great quote and I will continue to live by it.) Before I divulge information about my so-called "real character," I must let you all know that  everything  in this world has a bad side (with a few exceptions, of course). All of us have a good and bad side. The main point of it all is how much of each side we have. If we let our bad side take us over, we still start acting uncivilized, irrational, hardheaded, and possibly, into hateful human beings. I have friends who are known for their bad (yet sometimes witty) attitude, but I can still see that they have a good spirit in them.
